Creating a STEMgis map file.

STEMgis Map files are used on the STEMgis Viewer command line to specify a default map that is displayed when the Viewer is first run. This default map is usually a coastline/land area map, however, it could represent any point, line and/or polygon dataset.

You can change the command line option (-map mapfilename) to specify different default map files or you can create your own STEMgis Map file. Creating your own STEMgis Map file is a simple two stage process:

• firstly, load the appropriate file into the STEMgis Viewer via either the Query Wizard or the Viewer Import facility
• secondly, export the layer you require to a STEMgis Map format file, by selecting the 'export' button from the toolbar and then setting the 'STEMgis Map Format' radiobutton before exporting the file. For more help on exporting STEMgis layers see the Export Help.
