Select Menu

The Select menu contains the following options:

Select Area ON

Switches on and off the dashed box showing the select area.  It is often desirable to hide the select area box when printing.

Select New Area

Allows the user to define a new select area with a rubber band box.

Users can reduce the time the Viewer takes to answer a query by setting the Select Area so that it only includes the area of interest.

The Select Area can be set either through the Tool Bar or Menu Bar. Using the Tool Bar, click the icon, move the cursor over the map, hold down the left button and drag a box over the area you wish to select. When the mouse button is released a new Select Area box will appear. If no select Area box appears, you may need to click the Select Area button to turn it back on.

To change the select area with the Menu Bar, choose the Select Menu and pick one of the options.

Set to Current Extent

Sets the select area to that represented by the area currently displayed in the Map Window.
